Our course is designed to respond to the varied interests and backgrounds, and to proceed at a pace that realistically meets the needs of the student. The dialogues immerse participants in authentic cultural contexts and language to achieve the following key objectives:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Communication activities are based on an analysis of the participants specific needs and are designed to produce functional communication skills. These activities are related to the participants work place and to their general communication needs.
The program is broken down into three levels:
Level A - 120 hours (divided in 3 sub levels)
After completion of level A participants will be able to understand and produce, orally and in writing, simple, routine messages dealing with concrete information relating to familiar everyday work situations.
Level B - 120 hours (divided in 3 sub levels)
After completion of level B, participants will be able to understand and produce, orally and in writing, less routine messages on concrete subjects that may include assumptions and arguments relating to less familiar work situations.
Level C - 120 hours (divided in 3 sub levels)
After completion of level C, participants will be able to understand and communicate information and opinions orally and in writing, that contain nuances and implicit meaning, for a variety of real life situations.

COURSES
One on one: These sessions provide one facilitator to one participant and are designed to school the participant in the use of French in his/her chosen subject of profession.
Group: No more than eight (8) participants per class to ensure ample opportunity for participation and the acquisition of oral communication skills.
FRENCH GRAMMAR COURSES
"Le Français Par Objectifs" is aimed mainly at students of French as a Second Language. It covers all the basics of French grammar. It concentrates on verb forms and complex structures.
Each Objective is introduced in a situation, in typical sentences that allow the participant to pinpoint language structure and to use it orally.
GRAMMAIRE FRANÇAISE ET ORTHOGRAPHE (90 heures)
Pour ceux et celles qui désirent se perfectionner en orthographe grammaticale mais aussi ce cours peut être d'un précieux secours à tous ceux qui ont à utiliser la langue française comme moyen de communication

PARTIE 2.......... 45 heures
STYLISTIQUE DU FRANÇAIS ÉCRIT (90 heures)
La stylistique est un outil d'excellence en français écrit. Ce programme est offert aux personnes intéressées à enrichir leur connaissance des particularités de style (figures, idiotismes, etc.) propres à la langue française.

TABLE RONDE (30-hours session)
La Table Ronde is for participants who wish to maintain their level of French. It is geared solely to the spoken language. Its aim is to rapidly achieve an effective level of communication through systematic use of everyday vocabulary and structural patterns, to enhance free expression, as a sense of correctness leads to a feeling of self-confidence. The end result is better oral proficiency and more effective communication.
FRENCH IMMERSION Program in North Bay
Learn or improve your French quickly by taking a one-week (37.5 hours) French immersion session to be held May 31 to June 10, 2010.

PLACEMENT TEST
An assessment in French is performed orally for each new participant joining our program to make sure he/she is placed within the right group.
ACHIEVEMENT TEST
At the end of each session, participants are submitted to an achievement test to measure their degree of mastery of the objectives. The first part is designed to measure their ability to use French grammar correctly. The second part is to measure their ability to understand specific messages in French and to use strategies in French. The last part is the oral communication test, designed to measure the ability to communicate orally in French in a face-to-face situation with a French-speaking person.
PROFICIENCY EVALUATION SERVICES
NLTC provides both French Language Proficiency Evaluation and/or French Language Skills Training Services.
The cost to provide the services for French Language Proficiency Evaluation and to submit a detailed language skills report is:
Evaluation of ORAL language skills $107.00
Evaluation of WRITTEN language skills $87.50
ORAL and WRITTEN combined $175.00
